20 KB photo size: compress image to 20 KB

Get the 20 KB photo size that signature and small photo fields ask for. Your image comes back as a JPG between 18 and 20 KB, made on your phone and never uploaded.

We'll make your photo 20 KB.

Target size

Leave empty unless your form gives a minimum, like 20 KB for IBPS photos.

The picture may get smaller in pixels (at most 2000 px on the long side) so it stays sharp at low KB.

Your file will be 18–20 KB.

About this tool and size

Who needs a photo under 20 KB

Twenty kilobytes is the most common cap for signatures. IBPS PO, IBPS Clerk, SBI PO, RBI and NABARD forms want a 140×60 px signature of 10–20 KB, and SSC CGL, CHSL, MTS and CPO ask for 10–20 KB too, at 472×157 px. DSSSB caps its signature at 20 KB. Fewer forms want a whole photo this small, but a passport photo converts into a 20 KB JPEG without trouble.

20 KB photo size in pixels

What is the size of a 20 KB photo in pixels? KB measures the file and pixels measure the picture, so the same 200×230 photo can weigh 15 KB or 60 KB depending on JPEG quality. The tool keeps quality as high as the 20 KB budget allows.

As a rough guide, a passport-style photo on a plain background stays clean at about 170×230 pixels in 20 KB. A busy background or a dim, noisy shot needs more kilobytes for the same size, and a signature on white paper needs far fewer.

What you will get

Whatever you add, the download is a baseline JPG (not progressive) between 18 and 20 KB. It stays under 20,000 bytes, so it passes whether the portal counts 1 KB as 1000 or 1024 bytes, and hidden camera and location data are removed.

Tip before you compress

If the form also fixes pixels, such as 140×60 for a signature, use the Signature resize tool instead. It crops, cleans the paper to white and hits both the pixels and the KB range in one go.

Exams with a 20 KB limit

These forms set a maximum of 20 KB for at least one document: NABARD Grade A (signature, 10–20 KB); SSC GD Constable (signature, 10–20 KB); SBI Clerk (Junior Associate) (signature, 10–20 KB); IBPS PO (signature, 10–20 KB); SSC CGL (signature, 10–20 KB); IBPS Clerk (signature, 10–20 KB). Open your exam page for the full rules, including pixel sizes and background.

Other sizes and ranges

Pick the size just under the limit printed on your form. If the form gives both a minimum and a maximum, a range page fills in the minimum for you.

How to use it

  1. Add your image. Take a photo or pick one from your gallery. JPG, PNG, WebP and iPhone HEIC files all work.
  2. Check the target. 20 KB is already selected. Type a minimum if your form sets one, and decide whether the pixel size may change.
  3. Let it work. The tool tries the highest JPEG quality that stays under 20 KB and makes the picture smaller only when it has to.
  4. Download. When every line of the pass check has a tick, save the JPG and upload it to your form.

Questions

Will 19 KB be accepted where the form says 20 KB?

Yes. "Up to 20 KB" or "10–20 KB" means anything from the minimum up to 20 KB. We aim just under the limit so it is safe even if the portal counts 1 KB as 1000 bytes.

Can I convert a PNG or HEIC photo into a 20 KB JPEG?

Yes. PNG, WebP and iPhone HEIC files are opened on your device and saved as a JPEG of 18–20 KB, the format exam portals expect.

Is a photo under 20 KB good enough for a bank form?

Banking photos must be 20–50 KB, so a photo under 20 KB would be too small. Use the 50 KB page or the 20–50 KB range page for the photo, and this page for the signature.

Is my photo uploaded anywhere?

No. Compression runs inside your browser on your own device. The page even works offline after your first visit.
