Upload errors and how to fix them

These are the messages the CSIR UGC NET portal shows. Each one has a fix.

Error: File size should be between 10 kb to 200 kb: Fix: Your CSIR NET photo is too big (or below 10 KB). Phone photos are 2–5 MB; Auto-fit brings it inside 10–200 KB without changing what you look like.
Error: Signature file size should be between 10 kb to 50 kb: Fix: The signature limit is smaller than the photo limit. Crop tight around the ink and Auto-fit to 10–50 KB.
Error: Invalid file type. Only JPG/JPEG allowed: Fix: iPhone HEIC or PNG screenshots are refused. SahiSize converts any photo to a real JPG.
Error: Live photo not matched: Fix: The live photo did not match Aadhaar. Retake it in better light without a cap or new glasses. If it still fails, NTA asks for the attested photo certificate from the bulletin annexure.
Error: PDF size should be between 50 kb to 300 kb: Fix: Certificates must be one PDF of 50–300 KB. A single clean page is often under 50 KB; SahiSize adds quality until it crosses the minimum.

About the CSIR UGC NET upload rules

Joint CSIR-UGC NET has the most optional PDFs of the NTA forms. Everyone uploads a photo and a signature; many candidates also need a category certificate or a result-awaited attestation form, and each must be a PDF of 50–300 KB.

Dates for the December 2026 cycle

The bulletin lists online applications from 07-10-2026 to 05-11-2026, with late submission from 06-11-2026 to 09-11-2026. Late submission carries a late fee, so aim for the main window.

Work out which PDFs you need

Category certificate: if you claim a reserved category. Use the format given in the bulletin annexures.
Result-awaited attestation form (Annexure XI): if you are in the final year of your master’s. It needs your Head of Department’s signature, so get it signed before you start the form.
Disability / UDID certificate: for PwD candidates.
ID proof (10–200 KB, JPG): only if you verify identity without Aadhaar or DigiLocker.

Then make the two main files

Photo: recent, in colour, white background, about 80% face with both ears and no mask. Limit 10–200 KB, JPG. NTA gives no pixel size; SahiSize keeps 3.5×4.5 cm proportions.
Signature: black ink on white paper, 10–50 KB.

Combining multi-page PDFs

A caste certificate with a second page, or an attestation form on two sheets, must still go up as one file. Add all pages to the certificate step here. If a single page comes out under 50 KB, SahiSize raises the quality until it crosses the minimum; if several pages go over 300 KB, it compresses them while keeping text readable.

Live photo

A live photo is captured during the form and matched with Aadhaar. Take it in the same light and with the same look as your uploaded photo.

If the portal still rejects it

For PDFs, the most common problem is size, either under 50 KB or over 300 KB. Re-run the certificate step. For images, check that the file is JPG and inside its KB range on the Pass check card.

Besides the uploaded photo, the form captures a live photo with your webcam or phone (scan the QR code). It is matched with Aadhaar, so take it in good light and look like your recent photo.

Can I combine the category certificate pages into one file?
