Upload errors and how to fix them
These are the messages the CUET UG portal shows. Each one has a fix.
- Error:
File size should be between 10 kb to 200 kb
- Fix: Your CUET photo is too big (or below 10 KB). Phone photos are 2–5 MB; Auto-fit brings it inside 10–200 KB without changing what you look like.
- Error:
Signature file size should be between 10 kb to 50 kb
- Fix: The signature limit is smaller than the photo limit. Crop tight around the ink and Auto-fit to 10–50 KB.
- Error:
Invalid file type. Only JPG/JPEG allowed
- Fix: iPhone HEIC or PNG screenshots are refused. SahiSize converts any photo to a real JPG.
- Error:
Live photo not matched
- Fix: The live photo did not match Aadhaar. Retake it in better light without a cap or new glasses. If it still fails, NTA asks for the attested photo certificate from the bulletin annexure.
- Error:
PDF size should be between 50 kb to 300 kb
- Fix: Certificates must be one PDF of 50–300 KB. A single clean page is often under 50 KB; SahiSize adds quality until it crosses the minimum.
CUET photo upload rules
CUET UG is the lightest NTA form for uploads. Most candidates need only two files: a photo and a signature. The catch is the signature limit, which is tighter than in NEET or JEE Main.
The two files most people need
Photo. A recent colour passport-size photo on a white background. Your face, including both ears, should cover about 80% of the image, without a mask. The limit is 10–200 KB in JPG. NTA gives no pixel size, so SahiSize uses 3.5×4.5 cm proportions and only shrinks the image if it would go over 200 KB.
Signature. Black ink on white paper, 10–50 KB in JPG. If you saved a signature for NEET or JEE Main, check its size: those forms allow up to 100 KB, so an older file may be too big for CUET.
Only if it applies to you
- A disability or UDID certificate, as one PDF of 50–300 KB.
- An ID proof as a 10–200 KB JPG, only if you verify your identity without Aadhaar or DigiLocker.
Before you sit down to apply
- Take the photo in daylight facing a window. Keep the camera at eye level.
- Sign two or three times and pick the cleanest one.
- Run both through the CUET UG preset and check the Pass check card.
- Print a few copies of the same photo file. The bulletin asks for an additional photo, the same as the uploaded one, on the attendance sheet at the centre.
Live photo
During the form you also capture a live photo by webcam or by scanning a QR code with your phone. It is compared with your Aadhaar photo, so avoid new glasses or a cap.
Timing
The CUET UG 2026 bulletin came out in January 2026. Expect the form around January–February.
If the portal still rejects it
A signature that fails is almost always over 50 KB. Crop closer to the ink and fit again. A photo that fails is usually a HEIC file from an iPhone; SahiSize saves a real JPG.
CUET photo size FAQ
What is the photo and signature size for CUET UG?
Photo 10–200 KB and signature 10–50 KB, both JPG/JPEG. NTA gives no pixel size, only the KB range.
My NEET signature was 80 KB. Can I reuse it for CUET?
No. CUET allows only 10–50 KB for the signature. Run it through Auto-fit again for the CUET limit.
What is the live photo in CUET UG?
Besides the uploaded photo, the form captures a live photo with your webcam or phone (scan the QR code). It is matched with Aadhaar, so take it in good light and look like your recent photo.
Do I need to paste a photo anywhere later?
Yes. An additional photo, the same as the one uploaded, is pasted on the attendance sheet at the centre. Print a few copies of the same file.
Does CUET ask for a Class 10 certificate upload?
Not in the 2026 bulletin. Only the photo, signature and, where applicable, the disability certificate and an ID proof.
