Upload errors and how to fix them

These are the messages the UGC NET portal shows. Each one has a fix.

Error: File size should be between 10 kb to 200 kb: Fix: Your UGC NET photo is too big (or below 10 KB). Phone photos are 2–5 MB; Auto-fit brings it inside 10–200 KB without changing what you look like.
Error: Signature file size should be between 10 kb to 50 kb: Fix: The signature limit is smaller than the photo limit. Crop tight around the ink and Auto-fit to 10–50 KB.
Error: Invalid file type. Only JPG/JPEG allowed: Fix: iPhone HEIC or PNG screenshots are refused. SahiSize converts any photo to a real JPG.
Error: Live photo not matched: Fix: The live photo did not match Aadhaar. Retake it in better light without a cap or new glasses. If it still fails, NTA asks for the attested photo certificate from the bulletin annexure.
Error: PDF size should be between 50 kb to 300 kb: Fix: Certificates must be one PDF of 50–300 KB. A single clean page is often under 50 KB; SahiSize adds quality until it crosses the minimum.

About the UGC NET upload rules

For the December 2026 session, the UGC NET bulletin gave the online application window as 08 October 2026 to 28 October 2026, followed by fee payment and a correction window. Check the bulletin of the session you are applying for to see the current dates. The files below are all you need.

There is no pixel size in the bulletin. SahiSize makes the photo in 3.5×4.5 cm proportions and only reduces it if it would go over the KB limit.

A ten-minute routine

Stand against a white wall in daylight and take a head-and-shoulders photo. Crop so your face fills most of the frame and both ears show.
Sign three times on white paper and pick the clearest. Crop tight.
Choose UGC NET here and fit both. The signature usually lands well under 50 KB.
PwD candidates: add every page of the certificate and save one PDF.
Download the files and keep them; you will want the same photo if you apply again in June.

Applied in June? Read this

Each cycle is a fresh application. Your June photo can be reused if it is still recent and within 10–200 KB, but the live photo is taken again, and it is matched with Aadhaar. If your look has changed since June, take a new photo so both match.

Using a cyber cafe

Bring the files on your phone or a pen drive. Ask the operator to upload exactly these files rather than re-scanning, because a fresh scan often comes out several MB and fails.

If the portal still rejects it

Check whether the error is about size or type. Size: fit again with the UGC NET preset. Type: the file is probably PNG or HEIC; SahiSize always saves JPG.

Each cycle is a fresh application. The old file works if it is recent and within the KB limits, but the live photo is taken again.
