The CTET photo size is 3.5×4.5 cm, 10–100 KB, JPG; the signature is 3.5×1.5 cm, 3–30 KB. SahiSize turns those centimetres into pixels (about 276×354 and 276×118 at 200 DPI) and fits both files on your phone, so the CTET form accepts them the first time.

Upload errors and how to fix them
These are the messages the CTET portal shows. Each one has a fix.
- Error:
Invalid file size
- Fix: CTET checks the KB range strictly: photo 10–100 KB, signature 3–30 KB. Auto-fit lands inside both.
- Error:
Invalid file type
- Fix: Only JPG/JPEG is accepted for photo and signature. SahiSize converts HEIC, PNG and WebP to a real JPG.
- Error:
Photo and signature are not clear
- Fix: Retake in daylight against a plain wall; for the signature use a dark pen on white paper and keep Clean signature on.
- Error:
Image dimension should be 3.5 cm x 4.5 cm
- Fix: The CTET portal expects the photo in 3.5×4.5 cm proportions. SahiSize locks the crop to that shape and writes 200 DPI so it measures 3.5×4.5 cm.
CTET photo upload tips
CTET is one of the few exams that gives both a physical size and a KB range for each file. The photo is 3.5 cm wide by 4.5 cm high at 10–100 KB, and the signature is 3.5 cm long by 1.5 cm high at 3–30 KB. Both must be JPG/JPEG, and both uploads are mandatory.
Turning centimetres into a file
A file does not really have centimetres; it has pixels and a DPI value. At 200 DPI, 3.5×4.5 cm is about 276×354 pixels and 3.5×1.5 cm is about 276×118 pixels. SahiSize makes exactly those sizes and writes 200 DPI into the file, so any tool that measures it in centimetres reads 3.5×4.5 and 3.5×1.5.
The order that works
- Photo. A recent colour photo against a light wall. Crop from the top of the head to just below the shoulders; the crop box is locked to the 3.5×4.5 shape.
- Signature. Sign inside a wide, short box on white paper, roughly twice as wide as you would for a cheque. That keeps your signature near the 3.5×1.5 shape so it is not squashed.
- Check both on the Pass check card: dimensions, KB, JPG.
About that 3 KB minimum
CTET’s signature range starts at 3 KB, far lower than most exams. You will rarely hit the minimum; the bigger risk is a signature photo taken at full phone resolution, which can be several megabytes. Auto-fit takes it down to the 3–30 KB range.
Timing
CTET runs two sessions a year. For the September 2026 session, the application window was 11.05.2026 to 10.06.2026; for February 2026 it was 27.11.2025 to 18.12.2025. Expect CTET forms around May–June and November–December.
Using the same files elsewhere
State TETs often use different limits. HTET wants the photo at 20–50 KB and REET at 20–50 KB, so a CTET photo near 100 KB will fail there. Fit it again for each exam.
If the portal still rejects it
If the error mentions the image dimension, the photo was probably cropped to a different shape; redo the crop with the CTET preset. If it mentions size, check the KB on the Pass check card.
CTET photo size FAQ
What is the CTET photo and signature size?
Photo 3.5×4.5 cm, 10–100 KB; signature 3.5×1.5 cm, 3–30 KB; both JPG. In pixels at 200 DPI that is about 276×354 and 276×118.
Why is the CTET signature limit so low (3 KB)?
CTET allows a very small signature file, 3–30 KB. That is easy to hit: a clean signature at 276×118 px is usually 8–20 KB.
Do I need a thumb impression or declaration for CTET?
No. CTET asks only for the photo and signature; both uploads are mandatory.
When does the CTET form usually open?
CTET has two sessions a year. For the September 2026 session, applications ran from 11.05.2026 to 10.06.2026; for February 2026 they ran from 27.11.2025 to 18.12.2025. Expect forms around May–June and November–December; keep your files ready.
Can I reuse my CTET photo for state TETs?
Often not. HTET wants 20–50 KB and REET 20–50 KB, while a CTET photo can be up to 100 KB. Re-fit it for each exam here.
Should the CTET photo have my name and date?
No, the bulletin does not ask for it. Use a plain recent photo.
My scanner saves the photo at 600 DPI. Is that a problem?
A 600 DPI scan is many megabytes and far too large. SahiSize resizes it to about 276×354 px at 200 DPI, which measures exactly 3.5×4.5 cm and fits 10–100 KB.
Is the signature measured as length × height?
Yes: 3.5 cm long and 1.5 cm high. Sign in a wide, short box on white paper so the signature keeps that shape when cropped.
