Upload errors and how to fix them
These are the messages the HTET (Haryana TET) portal shows. Each one has a fix.
- Error:
Invalid file size
- Fix: HTET checks the KB range strictly: photo 20–50 KB, signature 10–50 KB. Auto-fit lands inside both.
- Error:
Invalid file type
- Fix: Only JPG/JPEG is accepted for photo and signature. SahiSize converts HEIC, PNG and WebP to a real JPG.
- Error:
Photo and signature are not clear
- Fix: Retake in daylight against a plain wall; for the signature use a dark pen on white paper and keep Clean signature on.
- Error:
Image Dimension of photograph should be 3.5 cm (width) x 4.5 cm (height) only
- Fix: HTET wants the photo in 3.5×4.5 cm proportions. SahiSize locks the crop to that shape and saves it at 200 DPI.
- Error:
Thumb impression is not clear
- Fix: Use a little ink, press it flat once with only a slight roll and no sliding, and keep Clean thumb on so the ridges stay sharp on a white background.
About the HTET (Haryana TET) upload rules
HTET asks for three images: a photo, a signature and a thumb impression, all in JPG. The bulletin adds two details that are easy to miss: a white background for both photo and signature, and “at least 60% visibility”.
What “60% visibility” means in practice
Your face should take up at least 60% of the photo. A passport photo cropped loosely, with lots of wall and shirt around you, can fall short. Crop from just above the hair to just below the chin and shoulders; SahiSize locks the crop to the 3.5×4.5 cm shape the bulletin specifies (about 276×354 px at 200 DPI).
File limits at a glance
- Photo: 3.5×4.5 cm, 20–50 KB, white background.
- Signature: 10–50 KB.
- Thumb impression: 10–50 KB.
Preparing the thumb impression
- Use a stamp pad with fresh but not heavy ink.
- Press the thumb flat on white paper once, with only a slight roll so the edges print. Do not slide or smudge it.
- Photograph it from straight above in daylight.
- Choose HTET → Thumb impression here. Clean thumb turns the paper white and darkens the ridges.
The bulletin does not say which thumb. You also put a thumb impression on the OMR sheet at the centre, so use the same thumb in both places.
One registration, several levels
You can apply for one or more levels through a single registration, so these three files are uploaded once.
Corrections
The board opens a short window to correct photo, signature and thumb impression. Outside that window no changes are accepted, so check the files before final submission.
Timing
These sizes are from the HTET 2025 bulletin. BSEH has announced that HTET 2026 will be held this year but has not published its bulletin yet; we will update this page when it is out.
If the portal still rejects it
A photo error usually means the photo is over 50 KB or not in the 3.5×4.5 shape. A thumb error usually means a smudged print; retake with less ink.
HTET (Haryana TET) size FAQ
What is the HTET photo, signature and thumb size?
Photo 3.5×4.5 cm, 20–50 KB; signature 10–50 KB; thumb impression 10–50 KB; all JPG.
What does "60% visibility" mean for the HTET photo?
Your face should take up at least 60% of the photo. Crop closer so the face is large; do not upload a full-body or distant photo.
Which thumb should I use for HTET?
The bulletin does not specify; most candidates use the left thumb. You also give a thumb impression on the OMR sheet at the centre, so use the same thumb.
Can I correct my HTET photo after submitting?
BSEH opens a short correction window for photo, signature and thumb. Use it; outside that window no changes are allowed.
Is the HTET photo matched at the exam?
Yes. The bulletin says the uploaded photo is matched with the candidate at the centre, so use a recent one.
Does the HTET signature need a white background too?
Yes. The bulletin asks for both photograph and signature with a white background. Clean signature turns grey paper pure white.
Is one application enough for Level 1, 2 and 3?
Yes. HTET uses a single registration for one or more levels, so you upload the photo, signature and thumb only once.
