SSC GD Constable signature: what is specific to this exam
These SSC GD Constable 2026 rules come from the SSC notice “Constable (GD) in CAPFs, SSF, Rifleman (GD) in Assam Rifles and Sepoy in NCB 2026”, page 10, last checked on 22 Oct 2026. The SSC GD Constable form usually opens around December.
From our SSC GD Constable notes
- SSC GD Constable is a little different from other SSC exams. The photo is still captured live, but the signature instructions in the GD notice add a resolution: 6.0 cm × 2.0 cm at 300 DPI. The 2026 cycle took applications from 01.12.2025 to 31.12.2025, so expect the next form around December.
- A larger image with the same KB limit means the background must be clean. Grey paper or a shadow adds weight to the file. Clean signature removes both.
- Horizontal, not slanted. The GD notice asks for a horizontally aligned signature.
- Large enough to fill the box. The notice names "miniature" signatures as the main reason for rejection.
- Your normal signature, the same one you will use at the exam and the PET.

Upload errors and how to fix them
These are the messages the SSC GD Constable portal shows. Each one has a fix.
- Error:
Applications with blurred/miniature signatures will be rejected summarily
- Fix: This line is in the SSC GD notice. "Miniature" means the ink is tiny inside a big white image. Crop close to the signature so the ink fills most of the 6×2 cm box; Clean signature does this for you.
- Error:
File size should be between 10 KB and 20 KB
- Fix: A plain signature often saves below 10 KB. Auto-fit raises the quality (and adds invisible padding if needed) to land between 10 and 20 KB.
- Error:
Invalid file format
- Fix: The signature must be JPEG/JPG. Do not upload a PNG screenshot or a PDF scan.
- Error:
Signature should be horizontally aligned
- Fix: A slanted or vertical signature is rejected in GD. Rotate it straight in the crop screen before Auto-fit.
