Specs from the SSC notice: Notice: Sub-Inspector in Delhi Police and Central Armed Police Forces Examination, 2026 (E/37/2026-C-2, dated 10.09.2026) · checked 22 Oct 2026 ·Source (page 11)
Photo is taken live in the form
You don't need to upload a photo for SSC CPO (Delhi Police & CAPF SI). The form takes it with your webcam or phone camera. Here's how to get the live photo right:
- Find a place with good light and a plain background
- Keep the camera at eye level
- Sit directly in front of the camera and look straight ahead
- Keep your whole face inside the frame, not too close or too far
- No cap, mask or glasses/spectacles
- Do not point the camera at an old printed photo; that gets the form rejected
Upload sizes
-
Signature 10–20 KB
472×157 px · 6×2 cm (derived) · JPG · 200 DPI
- Black ink on white paper
- Signature must fill the box; blurred or tiny signatures are rejected
- Keep it horizontal, not slanted
Note: Notice says 6.0×2.0 cm in one place and 4.0×2.0 cm in another; both are "about" and the KB range is the same, so we target 6.0×2.0 cm (≈472×157 px at 200 DPI), the size the other SSC exams use.
Upload errors and how to fix them
These are the messages the SSC CPO (Delhi Police & CAPF SI) portal shows. Each one has a fix.
- Error:
Applications with blurred/miniature signatures will be rejected summarily
- Fix: This line is in the SSC CPO notice. "Miniature" means the ink is tiny inside a big white image. Crop close to the signature so the ink fills most of the 6×2 cm box; Clean signature does this for you.
- Error:
File size should be between 10 KB and 20 KB
- Fix: A plain signature often saves below 10 KB. Auto-fit raises the quality (and adds invisible padding if needed) to land between 10 and 20 KB.
- Error:
Invalid file format
- Fix: The signature must be JPEG/JPG. Do not upload a PNG screenshot or a PDF scan.
- Error:
Photograph captured is not as per the instructions
- Fix: The live photo was taken with a cap, glasses, a dark room or a face cut off by the frame. Recapture before submitting; you can retake it as many times as needed.
About the SSC CPO (Delhi Police & CAPF SI) upload rules
SSC CPO recruits Sub-Inspectors for Delhi Police and the CAPFs. The 2026 form ran from 10.09.2026 to 30.09.2026. Like other SSC exams, the photo is taken live, and the signature is the main upload.
The 6.0 cm vs 4.0 cm question
The CPO 2026 notice gives the signature size in two places, and they disagree:
- One place says about 6.0 cm wide × 2.0 cm high.
- Another says about 4.0 cm wide × 2.0 cm high.
Both say “about”, and both give the same 10–20 KB JPG limit. We target 6.0×2.0 cm (about 472×157 px at 200 DPI), the main instruction and the size used across SSC. The portal checks file type and size, and a 6.0×2.0 cm signature passes both statements.
Make it in a few steps
- Sign with a black pen on white paper, wider than tall.
- Photograph it flat, in daylight.
- Crop close to the ink in SahiSize. Do not leave wide white margins; SSC rejects “miniature” signatures.
- Keep Clean signature on, then Auto-fit to 10–20 KB.
- Download
sign.jpgand keep it for the later stages too.
The live photo and later stages
The photo captured in the form is your identity record through the written test, the PET/PST and document verification. Take it without cap, mask or spectacles, in good light, looking straight at the camera at eye level. Keep the same look (beard, hairstyle) through the process.
Black ink
Use black ink. It gives a dark, clear line that stays readable after compression, and it matches what SSC asks for in its instructions.
If the portal refuses the signature
First confirm the file is JPG and between 10 and 20 KB. If it is and the upload still fails, try again later; heavy traffic near the last date causes failures that have nothing to do with your file. Do not wait for the final day.
SSC CPO (Delhi Police & CAPF SI) size FAQ
Do I need to upload a photo for SSC CPO?
No. The photo is taken live in the form with your webcam or the mySSC app. Do not point the camera at an old printed photo; SSC rejects such forms.
What is the signature size for SSC CPO?
About 6.0 cm wide × 2.0 cm high, 10–20 KB, JPG. In pixels that is about 472×157 at 200 DPI; SahiSize makes exactly that.
The CPO notice says 4.0×2.0 cm somewhere. Which one is right?
Both appear in the notice. The KB range (10–20 KB) is identical, so we target 6.0×2.0 cm, the main instruction and the size used across SSC. The portal checks file type and KB.
What if I use Aadhaar authentication for SSC CPO?
SSC says forms submitted through Aadhaar-based authentication are not rejected for photo or signature quality. You still need to upload a signature, so make it right anyway.
Is the SSC CPO live photo checked again at the PET?
Your appearance at every stage should match the photo in the form. Keep the same look (beard, hairstyle) through the process or carry proof.
Can I sign with a blue pen for SSC CPO?
Use black ink. A dark, clear signature also compresses into the 10–20 KB range more easily.
