Rules for the signature

• Signature 30–49 KB

  min 140×60 px · JPG · 200 DPI

  • Black ink on white paper
  • Running (joined) handwriting, not block or capital letters
  • At least 140×60 pixels, scanned at 100 DPI or more
  • Centred inside a 35×20 mm box
  • Must match your signature at the exam, DV, medical and joining

  Note: Minimum 140×60 px. At that size a clean signature makes too small a file, so we enlarge it step by step (up to 600 px wide, usually about 600×257 px) until it reaches the 30 KB minimum.

Tip: Sign in running handwriting with a black pen on white paper, inside a 35×20 mm area. Fill the area.

RRB Group D (Level 1) signature: what is specific to this exam

These RRB Group D (Level 1) 2025 rules come from the RRB notice “CEN 09/2025 (Level 1 posts)”, page 32, last checked on 22 Oct 2026. The RRB Group D (Level 1) form usually opens around January–February.

• RRB Group D (Level 1, CEN 09/2025) is the largest railway recruitment, and many applicants fill the form on a phone. The form usually opens around January–February. You do not upload a photo; you upload a signature, and an SC/ST certificate only if you want a free travel pass.
• Sign on white paper with a black pen, in running handwriting. Leave space around it.
• RRB sets a minimum of 30 KB so that signatures are not tiny or low quality. Do not try to make the file smaller; that is the most common mistake on this form.
• The signature you upload is compared at the CBT, document verification, medical examination and appointment. Use the signature you will actually sign with for years, not a special neat version.
• RRB wants the latest valid certificate as on the closing date. If yours was issued years ago in an old state format, get a fresh one before the form closes rather than after; a Group D signature is easy to redo, a certificate is not.

Upload errors and how to fix them

These are the messages the RRB Group D (Level 1) portal shows. Each one has a fix.

Error: File size should be between 30 KB and 49 KB

Fix: A clean signature is usually 10–20 KB, so it fails the 30 KB minimum. SahiSize first enlarges the image (still at least 140×60), then raises quality, and only then adds invisible padding until it reaches 30–49 KB.

Error: Signature written in BLOCK or CAPITAL letters instead of running handwriting

Fix: This is an official rejection ground. Sign in joined, running handwriting the way you sign a cheque.

Error: Use of non-black ink for the signature

Fix: Blue ink is not allowed for RRB. Sign again with a black pen.
