The UPPSC photo and signature size for PCS 2026 and One Time Registration: a 5×6 cm photo with your signature below it, up to 50 KB, and a separate 6×3 cm signature, up to 30 KB, both JPG. UPPSC is the only big commission that wants the signature inside the photo image too, so read the composite photo steps below.

Upload errors and how to fix them
These are the messages the UPPSC PCS (and OTR) portal shows. Each one has a fix.
- Error:
Photo size should not exceed 50 KB
- Fix: The composite photo (photo plus signature) is a big image; Auto-fit keeps it at 5×6 cm and under 50 KB.
- Error:
Signature size should not exceed 30 KB
- Fix: Crop to the signature only and Auto-fit; a clean signature at 472×236 px is well under 30 KB.
- Error:
Signature below photo is missing
- Fix: UPPSC wants the signature under the pasted photo in the same scan. Uploading a plain photo is a common mistake.
- Error:
Initials are not accepted
- Fix: Use your full running signature, not short initials.
How to make the UPPSC photo with signature
UPPSC does something few other commissions do: the “photo” upload is not a plain photo. It is a composite. You paste your passport photo on white paper, sign just below it, and scan the two together as one image. A plain face photo in that box is a common mistake.
The two uploads
| Upload | Physical size | Pixels at 200 DPI | Limit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Photo with signature below | 5 cm wide × 6 cm high | about 394×472 | up to 50 KB |
| Signature (separate) | 6 cm wide × 3 cm high | about 472×236 | up to 30 KB |
The pixel values are worked out from the centimetre sizes at 200 DPI. Sources give only a maximum, not a minimum.
Step by step
- Print or get a recent passport-size photo with a light background.
- Glue it near the top of a plain white sheet.
- Sign in black ink right under the photo. Use your full running signature, not initials.
- On another part of the sheet, sign again for the separate signature upload. It should match the one under the photo.
- Photograph the sheet flat in daylight, or scan it.
- In SahiSize, crop the photo-plus-signature area for the first step. The crop is locked to the 5×6 cm shape, and Auto-fit keeps it under 50 KB.
- Crop only the second signature for the signature step. Clean signature whitens the paper and keeps it well under 30 KB.
OTR comes first
UPPSC now uses One Time Registration. The images you upload there carry over to later UPPSC exams, so it is worth getting them right once rather than fixing them in every form.
Timing
The PCS form has usually opened around February–March. Check the UPPSC site for the current notice before you start.
If the portal still rejects it
Look at three things: is the signature visible under the photo, is the file under the KB cap, and is it a JPG rather than a PNG or PDF. These sizes come from secondary guides, so if the form shows a different limit, follow the form and change the KB in custom size.
UPPSC photo and signature FAQ
What is the UPPSC photo size?
5 cm wide × 6 cm high (about 394×472 px at 200 DPI), up to 50 KB, JPG, with your signature below the photo in the same image.
Why does the UPPSC photo include a signature?
UPPSC asks you to paste the photo on paper, sign below it and scan both together. The separate signature upload is still required too.
What is the UPPSC signature size?
6 cm wide × 3 cm high (about 472×236 px), up to 30 KB, full running signature in black ink.
Is OTR needed before the PCS form?
Yes, UPPSC now uses One Time Registration. The photo and signature you upload in OTR are used across its exams, so get them right once.
Is there a minimum KB for UPPSC?
Sources give only the maximum (50 KB photo, 30 KB signature). SahiSize still keeps the files sharp rather than squeezing them very small.
Can I make the photo-plus-signature image without a scanner?
Yes. Paste the printed photo on white paper, sign below it, and take a straight phone photo in daylight. Crop to a 5×6 cm shape here and Auto-fit under 50 KB.
Should the signature under the photo match the separate signature?
Yes. Use the same full running signature in both places, and the same one at the exam.
